Stephanie Louise Rice is an American swimmer, who currently holds the world record in the 400m individual medley and won three gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She was also awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2009.
She is unable to take part in the Delhi Commonwealth Games due to her shoulder injury. Her coach said that she feels really bad about missing Delhi. She will soon undergo a surgery so she can recover quickly and get back in to training for next year’s world titles in Shanghai and the London Olympics in 2012.
